KDevelop4 Beta9 released

March 8, 2010 at 10:37 pm | Posted in KDevelop | 9 Comments

Yeah, finally, this marks the end of a rather long line of beta’s. The first one is more than a year old! But it also means we’re finally getting closer to a 4.0 release. Now its time to go through the open bugreports for KDevelop
and KDevPlatform.

Also make sure you read the dot story about the Hacksprint in Berlin with joint developer forces from Kate, KDevelop and Okteta.

Packages are available as usual on the KDE mirrors. Make sure to get the latest one as I had to do a silent update on sunday evening (forgot to increase the version numbers, really sorry), the md5sums are:
4b0b9bb343da46ead3ae9632a0bd9ce9 kdevelop-3.9.99.tar.bz2
180ee3573bd3d5ba805acc17d44fcbab kdevplatform-0.9.99.tar.bz2

  1. What’s new in this beta?

    • As said in the dot article, mostly bugfixes. I don’t have an overview of the features that were added.

  2. I wanted to thank the kdevelop folks for one thing in particular:

The carefully structured menus in recent kdevelop.

It might sound like a small thing but this one feature (?) really blew my mind. I had come to accept that it was inevitable that feature-rich programs would have confusing menus but you have proved otherwise.

Now if you could just advise the DigiKam folks :¬)

  3. Out of curiosity, what numbering scheme will you version the release candidates with? Looks like you’ve run out of numbers with the current scheme.

    3.99.01 == rc1 ?

    Keep up the good work,
    Paul

    • Well, we could actually go for .991 as we don’t have a hex-version of the number currently.

  4. I updated from Beta 8 to Beta 9.

Suddenly, the “reformat”/source formating functions don’t work anymore. What sould I do: downgrading or are there new preference I have to set first?

  5. Hi,

We are writing to ask for a problem we have with kdevelop 3.5.5

We updated the version of Ubuntu to the 9.1 one, we uninstalled the kdevelop 4 and installed the kdevelop 3.5.5 again.
The problem we have is that the options Project, Build, Debug, Tools and Settings do not appear in main bar. We think that is a problem related with the configuration, but we can not solve it.
Could you help us with that?

    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,

    Adrian
