KDevelop4 moved
November 29, 2009 at 9:48 pm | Posted in KDevelop | 5 CommentsAs we decided that we won’t make the KDE 4.4 schedule and drop out of it, we thought that we should also play by the KDE policy rules and move out of trunk/KDE.
That move has just happened and KDevelop, KDevPlatform and Quanta can now be found under trunk/extragear/sdk/.
Everybody who’s running svn now needs to adjust his url using
svn switch svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/extragear/sdk/kdevelop
And similar for kdevplatform or quanta.
The tentative release date for KDevelop4 has been moved to end of march now.

Why don’t move to gitorious? (The Amarokers say it’s greater than sliced bread.)

Because doing the move in svn is a lot easier than moving to gitorious. We’re still planning to concentrate on the release, taking one step at a time is better than trying to take two and then falling over
That said we all pretty much agree that git will be the next move after the 4.0 release.

of course because mercurial is better.

Better than nothing:) Only.
KDE is moving to git, not to many different DVCSs.

Mercurial users can use mercurical against a git repository, so moving to git gives us both. (But I wouldn’t recommend mercurial; it is more comfortable for svn users at first, but is severely lacking in features compared to git).
